Activities in 2012

Interest generated in the Pilbara Families Building Pilbara Communities activities for the days 17^th to 19^th September 2012 brought Ngala into contact with 10 organisations, 7 of which went on to either partner or participate in the project with us. Based on partners’ feedback, planning, hosting, promoting and recruiting, Ngala was able to offer a wide range of supporting activities for families and those working with them.

Over the course of the three days, Ngala offered 4 workshops on sleep, 3 on behavior, 4 on building brains, 1 on toileting, 1 on fathering and 1 on helpline activities to 88 parents. Of these workshops, 4 included professional training for 27 staff working with families. Parent feed back indicated the activities provided useful knowledge, increased confidence and links to other parents and organisations. Similarly Professionals working with families reported that the practical knowledge provided would help in their work with families. 

Pilbara Families Building Pilbara Communities is offered to parents, community groups, employer groups and services working with families in Newman and Port Hedland.
