Consultations
Consultations are designed to be an early
intervention strategy and seek to provide a quick response to
requests for service where individualised strategies and
information/education are required. Parenting issues such as sleep
and settling, breast feeding and nutrition, play and development,
toddler behaviour and toileting challenges can be discussed and
explored.
This service is suitable for parents with children aged from 0 to 6 years.
Telephone or Centre Consultations can be scheduled at a time and place to suit the needs of families. Consultations are now also available via Webcam.
Ngala staff can provide early parenting consultations of between one hour and one and a half hours in duration for a centre consultation and up to forty five minutes for a telephone or webcam consultation.
The service is fee based and follow up calls are included in the cost.
Consultations are provided in
various formats such as:
- Centre Consultations at Kensington or Ngala’s community bases at Noranda or Rockingham;
- Telephone Consultations statewide,
- Webcam consultations statewide - now available,
- Home Visits can be provided where transport or family circumstances do not allow a family to attend one of Ngala’s centres.
- Ngala Parenting Plus Home visiting service.
This service may also be in preparation for admission for the Overnight Stay or Day Stay service.
A Consultation may also help to individualise parenting strategies presented at education groups.
