Enrolments
Waitlist and Vacancies
If you would like to attend one of Ngala’s Early Learning and Development Service, please complete an on-line application.
If you require child care immediately or in the near future we do have vacancies at ELDS Perth Airport, please contact the service to book an enrolment interview. Phone 9368 9340 or email ELDSPerthAirport@ngala.com.au
Once you have joined the waitlist, it is then your responsibility as the applicant to contact the Service on a regular basis (every 6-8 weeks) to confirm your interest in maintaining a position on the waitlist. If no contact is made with the Service, your application becomes invalid.
Ngala adheres to the Australian Government’s “Priority of Access Guidlines” for allocating child care places. The Priorities are as follows:
-
-
First Priority: a child at risk of serious abuse or neglect;

-
Second Priority: a child of a single parent who satisfies, or of parents who both satisfy, the work/training/study test under Section 14 of the 'A New Tax System (Family Assistance) Act 1999' ;
-
Third Priority: any other child.
-
Within these main categories priority should also be given to the following children:
-
- children in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families;
- children in families which include a disabled person;
- children in families which include an individual whose adjusted taxable income does not exceed the lower income threshold of $39 785 for 2011-2012, or who or whose partner are on income support;
- children in families from a non-English speaking background;
- children in socially isolated families; and
- children of single parents.
A child care service may require a Priority 3 child to vacate a place to make room for a child with a higher priority. They can only do so if you:
-
- are notified when your child first entered care that your service follows this policy
- are given at least 14 days notice of the need for your child to vacate.
Vacancies within the Service do arise from time to time according to the needs of the families currently enrolled at Ngala ELDS. Due to this, the Service can not give you information on how your application is progressing or when a space will be available for your child/ren. The Service will contact you once a position becomes available.
The Kensington Service does have an extensive waitlist, so it is recommended that you submit an on-line wait list application as soon as possible.
Tours:
Ngala ELDS run tours of the Service on a regular basis. Tours are limited to five people; you are welcome to bring a support person as well as your child/ren.
During the tour you will be shown through each age group to provide you the opportunity to view Ngala's Child Initiated Approach and practices. Ngala's philosophy and practices will be discussed and you will have ample opportunity ask any questions you may have.
Our main aim is to assist you with any questions you may have as well as gaining an understanding of Ngala's philosophy to give you a hand in making an informed decision about our Early Learning and Development Service.
If you’d like to book in for a tour, please visit Kensington or Perth Airport to discuss tour times and availability.
Fee information:
Ngala ELDS charges a flat fee for the whole day. Please ring Perth Airport – (08) 9368 9340 or Kensington - (08) 9368 9318 for further information.
Child Care Benefit (CCB):
FAO, the Family Assistance Office, is a joint venture between Centrelink, the Australian Tax Office and the Health Insurance Commission (Medicare). FAO will administer CCB on behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
Every family using an approved child care service will be provided with a Customer Reference Number (CRN). FAO also provides a CRN for each child, this information must be provided to the Service by the family.
Child Care Rebate:
The Government announced a change to the rebate which would make the tax rebate easier for families to claim. So what does this mean for families?
-
- From July 2008 the rebate is 50% of all out your out of pocket childcare expenses to the value of $7,500.00. Out of pocket expenses are the total fees you had to pay for child care expenses for approved care, less the amount of Child Care Benefit or Job Education Training Assistance (JET).
- To receive the tax rebate you must have been assessed as eligible for Child Care Benefit by Centrelink, and must provide your approved child care services providers with your family and child’s Customer Reference Numbers (CRN).
- Families can elect how they would like to receive the rebate, they can have it paid directly to the family at the end of each quarter or have it paid to the child care provider and pay the gap between the rebate any child care benefit and the full fee.
