Parents Working Away
For any family where work involves time spent away. 2-2.5 hour workshop.
Do you or your partner work away from home? Come and explore the issues that families find challenging when a parent works away. We will discuss practical ideas to help your family make the most of time together and remain connected during times apart. This workshop explores the working away experience from the perspective of all family members. Topics discussed include; staying connected, managing the patterns of absence and return and maintaining effective parenting.
There are many common challenges present for parents that work away, and at the heart of those concerns are; wanting what is best for their family, given their particular type of employment. Some common concerns that will be addressed are:
- How does the parent working away stay emotionally connected and in tune with their partner & children?
- How effectively do both partners function as a parenting team given the physical absence of one parent?
- How does the parent working away adjust back into functioning family life on their return?
- How does the family at home effectively manage and adapt the needs of their household in the patterns of absence and presence?
