C4C Plus - Places Spotlight on Under 12s
Posted on: Tue 19 April 2011
April 19th marked the West Australian launch of the Communities for Children Plus Program (C4C Plus) in Midland. With FaHCSIA as the funding body, it will bring together Commonwealth, State and non-government funded services to implement prevention and early intervention strategies for vulnerable families with children up to 12 years.
The Swan Alliance, a group comprising of Ngala, Mission Australia and Anglicare WA will deliver the C4C Plus program, with an aim to achieve positive outcomes for the most vulnerable children and families at risk in 11 suburbs - Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook, Beechboro, Caversham, Kiara, Lockridge, Koongamia, Middle Swan, Midland, Midvale and Stratton.
This innovative initiative is the only one of its kind in Western Australia and will be the only C4C Plus site in Western Australia with 7 others opening across the nation.
Ngala Early Parenting Services Director Elaine Bennett said Ngala has been going for about 120 years and already had strong links in the Midland area. She said working in partnership with other agencies through the Swan Alliance was a “perfect fit”. “We can no longer work in isolation. We have to work in partnership to meet families needs,” she said.
The launch was attended by special guests Hon Julie Collins, MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Communities and Councillor Charlie Zannino, Mayor, City of Swan. A highlight was also the Madjitil Moorna Choir which comprised of a talented team of singers including Megan Dawson and Lee Peters from Ngala’s team!
