Essential Support For New Parents
Most new parents need help and support dealing with the challenges a new baby brings. Parenting education and family support is extremely valuable for new parents, and that’s why Ngala is committed to providing the best services and support available.
Ngala is the leading ‘early parenting’ information source in WA for families, health professionals and community workers. Approximately 37,000 families access Ngala’s facilities each year, including their helpline, education sessions, and day and overnight stay services, and with the birth rate increasing, the demand for services will only get bigger.
This increase, coupled with growing domestic, economic and financial stress in these difficult times, means that Ngala must not only keep up with demand, but find new ways of ensuring their services are relevant and accessible for familites in a variety of circumstances.
Peter Arif and his team at The Good Guys Cockburn have recently announced their support of Ngala through their Local Giving Program, to assist with funding to help provide resources for the Ngala Parenting and Play Time sessions held in Merriwa, as well as Parenting Education Workshops.
“Ngala Parenting and Play Time offers an informal face to face way for families to make their first or follow up connection with Ngala and provides many opportunities for informal parent education, sharing information about resources and how to access these in the community” said Rae Walter, CEO of Ngala.
“The benefits of sharing experiences and ideas with other parents is a powerful way to develop parenting confidence and can result in valued support and friendship networks among those who attend,” she said.
“The resources Ngala provide to the community are invaluable,” said Peter. “We are proud to be able to support such a fantastic organisation through our Local Giving Program.”
The Good Guys Local Giving program, which sees a percentage of every transaction donated to a local charity, is run in partnership with United Way, a not-for-profit organisation working towards connecting businesses with charities for the greater benefit of local communities.
