Swan Alliance Communities for Children
What is the Swan Alliance?
The Swan Alliance is an equal partnership between Ngala, Mission Australia and Anglicare WA. In 2010 Anglicare WA, Ngala and Mission Australia formed the Swan Alliance and was successful in securing the Australian Department of Social Services contract to deliver the Communities for Children program in the Swan Region. The three Alliance agencies bring a wide range of experience and expertise in providing services to children and families and share the belief that they can use this experience, as well as shared values, to create a new form of seamless alliance that will achieve greater outcomes.
The Swan Alliance have a Leadership Group comprising of selected senior directors and managers of each Alliance partner plus two community representatives. The Leadership Group meets monthly to provide Executive Management for the Swan Alliance. The Leadership Group reports directly to the Swan Alliance CEO Group comprising of the CEOs of Ngala and Anglicare WA and the State Manager of Mission Australia. The Swan Alliance CEO Group meets quarterly and act as the Board by providing overall governance of the Swan Alliance.
What is Communities for Children?
Communities for Children is a ‚Äėplace-based‚Äô initiative of the Australian Department of Social Services. There are seven Communities for Children sites in Western Australia: Pilbara, Kimberley, Great Southern, Mirrabooka, Kwinana, Armadale and Swan. The initiative is implemented in each place by a Facilitating Partner whose core business is to:Develop and facilitate a ‚Äėwhole of community‚Äô approach to support and enhance early childhood development and wellbeing for children from birth to 12 years‚ÄĚ
As part of this responsibility, the Facilitating Partner sub-contracts other organisations, known as Community Partners, to deliver services that contribute to achieving this core role.
What is the Swan Alliance Communities for Children?
The Swan Alliance is the Facilitating Partner delivering the Communities for Children initiative within the Swan Local Government Area. There is a particular focus on the suburbs of: Beechboro, Bullsbrook, Caversham, Ellenbrook, Kiara, Koongamia, Lockridge, Midland, Middle Swan, Midvale and Stratton. The Swan Alliance supports these suburbs through the creation of four ‚Äėplaces‚Äô which align to the City of Swan: Altone, Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook and Midland.
Who are the community partners?
Community Partners are organisations sub-contracted by the Swan Alliance to deliver direct service delivery Activities which meet the outcomes of the Communities for Children initiative and Community Strategic Plan. Communities for Children currently funds six Community Partners to deliver a total of ten activities across Altone, Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook and Midland places.
