Media Release

After nearly 130 years of working with West Australian families, Ngala continues to use the latest internal and external research, alongside community stories and experiences to develop and deliver evidence informed services that meet the needs of todays’ parents and children. With this philosophy always at the forefront of Ngala’s innovation and growth, Ngala listened to the voices and needs of today’s parents, its stakeholders and staff. The result, was the need to refresh the face, tone, tagline and brand story of Ngala for an even stronger and more relevant connection to the community it engages with.

“In July this year, we launched a three-year strategic plan, part of this plan included the development of a refreshed logo, tagline and our Ngala story – together they introduce the future for Ngala. This signifies new beginnings of growth, sustainability and innovation which are underpinned by the research and evidence based philosophy of our organisation,” says Fiona Beermier, CEO, Ngala.

Today, Ngala operates early childhood education and care, parent education and youth services across Western Australia. Ngala’s three-year strategy implementation will allow Ngala to operate as a universal provider that influences positive child development and enhances the experience of parenting. It further endorses that Ngala’s main reason for being is for the complete benefit of a child as they are the ultimate recipients of what Ngala does as an organisation in every form.

“At Ngala, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to be their best, and that parenting should be a joyful and rewarding experience and that is why the recognition of the needs of a child and parent are always at the forefront of Ngala’s innovation and growth,” says Ms Beermier.

The symbol, logo and tagline

The new Ngala symbol was inspired by the meaning behind Ngala which comes from the Aboriginal Noongar language – translated, Ngala means “We Two”. This is translated through the symbol in the overlay of the hearts where Ngala + Parent come together for the child in the middle. The rounder, softer shape plus a touch of boldness in colour represents the balance of emotion and intelligence of Ngala as a brand.

The new tagline was developed from select parenting research agencies, in depth parent surveys, as well as workshop sessions with Ngala staff and customers. The consultation process was needed to truly understand Ngala’s contemporary positioning as well as the needs of the community. Through the extensive research conducted the ultimate narrative and the linchpin, especially for parents, was the ultimate goal of happiness for their child.

To accompany and envelope the refresh of the logo and tagline, the Ngala Story has been developed so that the true essence of both the emotional and intelligence quotient of the organisation can be shared with all the parents, carers and children.

This is the Ngala Story:

The story of Ngala is a community story. It’s the future of Western Australian families guided by nearly 130 years’ experience in parenting and child development. This guidance has the power to give parents and carers a sigh of relief, a feeling that they’re in safe hands with our team.  But this is just the beginning of the journey. At Ngala, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to be their best, and that parenting should be a joyful and rewarding experience. This is what we call, Raising happiness.

Every child has a different path to take in life and they will have to face challenges, seek out opportunities, and triumph over hurdles, as they explore the world around them. From conception to adulthood, Ngala services, underpinned by research, evidence, and shared experiences, will be there as a steadying hand on the journey you take with your child, every step of the way.

In the same way that your child’s world is made up of a collection of experiences and encounters, our story includes all the people who make up Ngala, and that includes you. You are the heart of the Ngala story and together, we will work towards Raising happiness.
