Parenting and professional support in the Pilbara.

Build your knowledge and confidence with Pilbara Families Building Pilbara Communities (PFBPC).

Since 2012, Ngala has been working with the support of BHP to build and assist ongoing capacity, as well as provide expertise, to services working with families in Port Hedland and Newman. PFBPC increases and provides access to appropriate support services for families living in the Pilbara with young children, with the ultimate aim of reducing barriers that prevent families from moving to or remaining within the region.

PFBPC takes requests from the community, then runs sessions with its community partners. Each visit brings education and training. Community partners in the region include The YMCA, EPIC and the Child and Parent Centre in Hedland.

For the ease of access for Pilbara families, consults and webinars are also available.

2022 calendar

Planning is underway for our 2022 education trips. Requests for workshop topics can be made through any of our community partners or by emailing

For the safety of the Newman community during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ngala, supported by BHP and EPIC, will be hosting all of our workshops remotely this term. While we know that talking to someone over a video is not the same as having a yarn in person, rest assured we have teamed up with the wonderful ladies at Newman Neighbourhood Centre for the past two years with our video conferencing equipment, with only a few hitches along the way!

Feel free to bring a mask and meet us for a socially distanced coffee at the NNC or join us via a link from the comfort and safety of your own home. Please do not attend in person if you are feeling unwell or have been asked to isolate.
