Thriving Families is free service navigation program that helps at-risk or vulnerable parents and children access supports they would not otherwise be able to access due to financial and referral pathway barriers.
How it works.
Each family will speak to a Service Navigator to develop a Care Plan specific to them and the challenge they are facing, which may include:
- Consults with various professionals
- Service navigation
- Linkages with external community supports
- Community programs and group sessions
- Stays at Ngala’s Residential Parenting Service
Common challenges the Thriving Families Program aims to help with.
- Adjustment to parenting
- Sleep and settling
- Feeding and nutrition
- Development milestones
- Anxiety and postnatal depression
- Parent-child relationship
- Managing finances and budgets
- Complex family relationships
- Sexual health and contraception
- Exposure to Family and Domestic Violence (FDV)
- Accessing housing or refuge
Eligibility criteria for referral.
Families and pregnant mothers who need support and assistance with the care and wellbeing of children and meet any one of the following criteria:
- Women at-risk of, or who are victim survivors of Family and Domestic Violence.
- At-risk or vulnerable parents or caregivers and babies who would not otherwise be able to access Ngala’s residential program due to financial and referral pathway barriers.
- Aboriginal families
- Families from a CaLD background
- Caregivers with a disability
- Single parents
- Young parents
