Sometimes, children need support to manage their behaviours and emotions, in order to clearly show their caregivers that they need them. ABC strengthens the relationship between caregiver and child, helping the child to regulate behaviours and emotions. The program assists caregivers to learn to respond to the baby’s signals, strengthening the relationship and helping to protect against stress and early challenges.

ABC is designed to work with caregivers of babies from birth to 24 months of age whose child may have experienced or be at risk of experiencing adversity.

ABC coaches come to you. All visits are conducted in the home.

Now. ABC takes a flexible approach, coaches will work one-on-one with caregivers to find the most suitable time for the caregiver and baby.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the ABC intervention families must:
- Be an expectant parent in the last trimester of pregnancy, or:
- Be a parent or primary caregiver of a child aged up to 24 months old who will commit to the 10 sessions with their child in the home.
- Be agreeable to the sessions being video recorded (in accordance with privacy and confidentiality agreements in place).
- Be willing to participate in data collection prior to program commencement and at program completion.
