Hear from past parents.

I felt heard and understood

I felt heard and understood, they were extremely knowledgeable, they knew exactly what I was experiencing and helped me through my situation. The first phone call I would characterise as life changing. I felt a real struggle in understanding my baby and the nurse helped simplify everything and was very patient.

You guys are life savers

I couldn’t recommend Ngala enough. As a first time mum to twins I was very sleep deprived and exhausted when I arrived at Ngala. Not only did they help my babies learn to self settle and start to link their sleep cycles but I walked away as a more confident and assured parent. Special thanks to [the staff who worked with us]… you guys are life savers xo

Thanks for giving me confidence in parenting

Thanks for your advice and answering my questions. Thanks for facilitating an environment where I can meet other local mums. Thanks for helping me remember the nursery rhymes of my childhood. Thanks for giving me resources and confidence in parenting.

Such a gift to Geraldton families

Parents and Learning has been such a wonderful program for Kindilink and our families. Such easy access to quality books, age appropriate and fun activities provided by the lovely PaL ladies. It is such a gift to Geraldton families.

Opening doors, making a difference

Taking a Remote School Attendance Strategy staff member on home visits leads to better outcomes, as it literally helps ‘open the door’. Our collective efforts are making a difference and I believe there is a growing understanding in Carnarvon that when it comes to school attendance, every day matters.

I was blown away by the level of support

I cannot thank you enough for the unbelievable service you provide in such a supportive and compassionate environment. I felt like a failure for needing more help, and I was really at the end of my tether. The service you provide is outstanding, and I was blown away by the level of support and kindness.

I just wish I had come sooner

[Your staff] made me realise that I was doing the best job I possibly could and that my son was where he should be developmentally. The advice given has already made a huge impact on his sleep patterns and overall happiness when he is awake. I just wished I had come sooner.

What we do.

Professional, evidence-based advice from medically qualified staff.
Build personalised, realistic strategies around your child, routine and personal situation.
Take a step back - sometimes the solution for a good night sleep might lie in other places.
Let you take the lead - we won’t tell you what you need, we’ll support you to get what you want.

What we don’t do.

Take over. You are always in control, and we are always working towards your goals.
Controlled crying. We won’t let your child grow distressed, or stop you attending to them.
Separate you from your child. We observe and coach you to stay in control.
Babysit. We’re here to find a long term solution, not provide short term respite.

Who can attend?

All Ngala services are available to all parents in WA – there are no eligibility requirements. To access our 1 and 4 day stays you will need a referral from a GP – you can either ask your GP to fill out this form, or contact Ngala to speak with our team about your options.

FAQs.

How much does a stay cost?
The costs for your stay depend on the level of cover supplied by your private health insurance. If you would like an estimation of how much you will need to pay for your level of cover please contact our team and we will be able to provide one for you.
How is Ngala different to a Sleep Consultant?
The Ngala team are all clinically qualified professionals, including Child Health Nurses, Midwives, Psychologists and Social Workers. Many have completed additional study in specialist areas such as lactation. Any problems with sleep are usually the result of a combination of factors, and with Ngala you get access to expertise a typical Sleep Consultant might not have.
Do I really need a Registered Nurse to help with sleep?
A Child Health Nurse is best suited to identify any additional challenges that might be affecting your little one's sleep - which may include colic, difficulty feeding, or any number of other issues. Their wide-ranging clinical skill is what sets us apart from many Sleep Consultants.
Do you guarantee I’ll get a good night’s sleep?
We guarantee to develop a practical and realistic sleep strategy for you to implement in your own home. We do not guarantee a good night's sleep and suggest you be cautious of those who do, as their methods may involve outdated ideas like controlled crying.
Will I get help 24 hours a day?
Yes. We are staffed 24 hours a day and there will always be a Nurse working with you, whenever you need our help.
Does Ngala only help with sleep for babies?
Ngala can help with all sleep challenges for children aged 0 to 6 years, including baby sleep, infant sleep, toddler sleep, pre-kindy sleep and kindy sleep.
Is all my food provided during my stay?
Yes. We have an on-site cook who will prepare fresh meals and snacks during your stay.
Can I bring other siblings or a partner?
Yes you can. We have specialist rooms to suit everything from a partner staying, to a family of 6. You can bring any other family members to stay with us, however please be aware there will be additional costs, which depend on your level of insurance. If you would like an estimation of how much you will need to pay for your level of cover please contact our team and we will be able to provide one for you.
Can I leave the Clinic once I’m there?
Yes you can. You are free to come and go as you please and can leave at any time, however you will always need to be in charge of and supervising your little one. Please note you are not able to duck out while your baby sleeps!
Do you provide babysitting so I can get a break?
No. You are required to always be in charge of and supervising your little one. We are not a babysitting service - but of course are always available to help out if needed.
