Ngala, a lifeline of support for many Western Australian families, has received a significant solar system donation from Synergy to help bring down their ongoing energy costs.
The not-for-profit organisation assists parents, carers and families through the ups and downs of raising children, from pregnancy, throughout the school years and right up to young adulthood.
Member for South Metro Kate Doust said the roof-top solar donation from Synergy will enable Ngala to use the money saved through solar energy on important family services.
“We know that Ngala is an extremely valuable support to parents within the community, and this roof-top solar system will mean real, long-term savings that create the ability for Ngala to extend their services to support additional families in need,” Ms Doust said.
Synergy’s CEO Jason Waters said that the company was delighted to give Ngala a boost in supporting families through the provision of roof-top solar.
“Synergy’s Community Solar Fund is designed to help important community organisations deliver even greater community benefits, by realising the savings possible from renewable energy and enabling them to re-invest these savings into valuable projects,” Mr Waters said.
Ngala CEO Fiona Beermier said the long term savings made possible by the roof-top solar system ultimately mean support for more Western Australian families in need of early parenting support, through increased access to their Day Stay and Extended Stay services.
“The Synergy Community Solar Fund is a massive win for us. To be able to redirect savings into projects will ultimately help more parents build confidence in those early stages of parenting,” Ms Beermier said.
“The early parenting years can be really difficult to navigate and there are many parents out there struggling and needing support – we want to ensure our services such as our intensive support programme is available to all families, including those who may face financial difficulty.”
Synergy has awarded six solar systems to local charities around the SWIS and is supporting a further 58 charities with free energy audits and energy-saving recommendations.
Collectively, the recipients have the potential to save up to $50,000 per annum on their energy bills.
